Who are the Gwethil? A good question. The word “Gwethil” is Sindarin for “female associates” or “sisters”. We were founded as an (initially) exclusively female association of writers from fanfiction.net who were interested in writing, talking about writing and telling each other to write more.

We don't claim to be the very best writers in the world, but we do claim to always try to be the best writers that we can be. To that end, we support and advise each other and always encourage the others to write.

As mentioned above, the Gwethil was originally an exclusively female group, but we have since relaxed our entry policies to allow a single gentleman (the word is used under advisement) into our midst.

The Gwethil is, ostensibly, a writers' group - and every single member of the group is a writer (of poety, prose, fanfiction, original fiction, professionally or otherwise). However, the central binding element of the Gwethil has always been the sisterhood; namely the friendship that exists between the members. The Gwethil are friends bound by more than simply the fact we write. The Gwethil is not a traditional internet forum of writers, but rather a collective of authors. This website exists to provide those outside of the group a chance to learn more about our various stories.
