The first story in the "MechKnight" series. In this story, however, we meet out hero - Vladimir Hunyadi, a Transylvanian 'mech-warrior. He is in Rome for Easter, but what does Cardinal Griffin want with him? And who is the beautiful Lady Monica, and why does she need protection as she travels north?
"The Lady's Guardian" is written primarially as a romance, as ironic as that might seem. I don't normally write romances, and they aren't the usual fodder for science-fiction stories. But, I think that the setting and the ancillary elements (huge robotic fighting platforms etc.) are secondary to the central tale. |
