The Gwethil Original Characters Original characters are relatively common in fanfiction - in fact, it has been said by startlingly intelligent people that virtually all fanfic stories require some sort of "OC" (as they are often called). The girl who serves Starbucks coffee to the eponymous safe-cracker in "Ian Howe Gets A Latte" is an OC, and so are the goblins slaughtered by Faramir and Boromir in the seminal fin de siecle masterpiece "The Sons of Denethor Kill Everything That Moves".
