An innkeeper on the off-season, this spy has what he likes to think is a mysterious past. It is unknown who he spies for, and really, who he's spying on, but that just might be proof of his abilities. Able to speak seven languages and integrate himself in almost any social class, he really only does anything if he finds it interesting. He's a companion of Astraia Caspian and Jin as they race to take the magical book the Draycillys to safety. He is a consummate charmer, and flirts with beautiful women wherever he goes. He's also something of a pathological liar, though it is unclear if he does it for personal gain or if he gets a kick out of fooling people.

Fandom was in Aubrey's blood. Raised by two dedicated fans of fantasy, and Tolkien in particular, Aubrey continued the tradition, being a fangirl of Legolas in particular. When an accident involving a can of Fresca and an electrical outlet in her dorm at her boarding school causes Legolas to materialize in front of her, Aubrey takes full advantage of the situation. An aspiring writer and something of a daydreamer, she soon finds herself falling in love for real with the handsome elf, much to her chagrin, as Fresca has a habit of popping Legolas between worlds at random. Aubrey is smart, and loves nothing more than to spend an evening watching some bad movie with her friends. She firmly believes she will one day publish a book, and she is quite vocal in her likes and dislikes in regards to literature and movies and music.

Heather isn't entirely sure how she wound up with three friends who were fantasy nuts, but she manages to find herself loving them nonetheless. She had passable interest in the phenomena of Legolas appearing at Dawnsend academy, but her world was rocked when she was sent to Middle Earth and found herself in close company with Haldir, the arrogant March Warden himself. She takes it upon herself to completely annoy the Elf, whether by calling him an assortment of unflattering nicknames or just being irritating. She aims to be a chemist, and she is very smart, though it often doesn't show in her actions and speech. She loves fashion a great deal, and always makes a point of looking fabulous, whether in her boring black uniform at Dawnsend or under her labcoat in the laboratory.

Merry is, to put it bluntly, completely insane. It took awhile for the Fellowship of the Fanatics to warm up to her, as her antics were rather odd and off-putting until they got to know her. She is the one who dubbed the five friends with the moniker of the Fanatics, though Julie and Heather could care less about fantasy and Lord of the Rings. Not only did she take great delight in Legolas' appearance at Dawnsend, but when she tried to send Legolas and Aubrey on their honeymoon to Middle-earth, she instead was sent to the pirate ship the Black Pearl, and found herself hobnobbing with Will Turner, Commodore Norrington, and of course everyone's favorite pirate Captain Jack. She and Jack get along famously, causing mayhem and hilarity, but Will greatly dislikes her, due to an incident in Tortuga involving his manhood. Commodore Norrington is sort of afraid of her, until she starts being her annoying self and they quite often bicker worse than Haldir and Heather. However, Merry bickers for the sole reason that it amuses her. She is a history teacher in training, certain to strike terror in the hearts of teenagers everywhere.
